• Onboard MX5/Miata Nippon Challenge - Snetterton Oct 2008Race Onboard from the Nippon Challenge race 2 at Snetterton using the new VIDEO4 system from Race Technology (currently in beta testing). Am racing in a Keystone loaned MX5 which I'd not sat in until Quali. Driver is myself Malcolm Edeson, Senior Instructor for Lotus-on-Track and The Racing School. Thanks for CG-Lock for their continued support I was able to attend this race meeting. As well as 2 races in the Nippon Challenge I also did 2 races in Ma5da Racing series, onboard videos of which are also posted here.The Nipon Challenge is for any Japanese race Car inc. Mazda RX7, Mitsubishi Evo & FTO, Subaru Imprezza, Honda Civic Integra & CRX, Nissan 350Z, Suzuki Swift. It was a full grid of 38 cars. This is Race 2 which was action packed, lots of spins and close racing. Unfortunately, owing to a snapped fanbelt I did not finish teh race. We had a problem with a shake on the main bulletcam, which turned out to be a software problem. The original video looked terrible so have processed it via Virtualdub using the Deshake filter and it is now more watchable although there is still considerable shake. www.driver-coaching.com
• MX5 Nurburgring LapA slow and steady sighting lap in the morning of a very empty Nordschleife, no fancy lines on this one (except a small drift into AF and Phlanz 1). MX5 has around 110bhp probably, and the tyres (T1-R's) had done 40 laps that weekend and were pretty much dead. Track still damp from the dew @ Wehrseifen, Wipperman & as usual, Eiskurve. Look out for the black cab at 9:00 Visit Fastclassics.co.uk*****************************************Update - The little red beastie managed a GPS verified 8:44 BTG, with a passenger and the roof down, on R888 tyres! There may even be an 8:30 with some practice...For the idiots who can't read, this lap in the video is *NOT* the 8:44 lap. That was done over a year later on R888's and after tons of practice. Anyone who wants to verify the time can see the GPS log on www.northloop.co.uk, or just ask anyone else who knows about the car.
