Michael Ayers on Locke and Berkeley: Section 1Locke and BerkeleyThis program examines the philosophies of British empiricists John Locke and George Berkeley. Philosopher Michael Ayers of Oxford interprets Locke's skeptical theory that all knowledge is sensory and speculative, and that the true nature of the world can never be known as an attack on Descartes' theory of innate ideas. Conversely, Berkeley insists that we cannot have sensory knowledge of material substances because the exist only in the mind. Even the laws of nature, Berkeley says are merely the regularities of our own perceptions or ideas.Section 1:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5jwktbnrZYSection 2:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKmp0jXE0c0Section 3:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0sJlhroEa0Section 4:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ctxZtbH_mwSection 5:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KutXFg5rlU

Powers Annual #1, Locke & Key #3 and More!We enjoyed Powers Annual #1. It does a good job as any annual should of telling a good story that stands alone, while being part of the current story line. Then we check out Locke & Key #3 which we all really liked. It's really well written and horrifying without being overly blood-spattered. Plus, the artwork is top notch. Iron Man: Legacy of Doom #1 gets a 2 out of 3. Justin's just not on board because of "schlockiness". And that's exactly why Alex liked it - it's old school and feels like an old comic. Then in the Speed Round we've got Green Lantern Corps #23, Scud: The Disposable Assassin #23, Criminal #2, Suburban Glamour #4 and Echo #2. Rounding out this edition of The Stack Alex gets back to you with answers to viewer mail.
