• Inspector Gadget - Intro ThemeThe intro to the 1983 multi-production company (DiC, Nelvana, France 3, MK Production, et al) created series Inspector Gadget. A cross between Inspector Clouseau of the Pink Panther films and Don Adams' 'get smart' persona, the inept inspector would go on to star in 86 episodes.Taking on the forces of Doctor Claw and his crime empire known as MAD, Inspector Gadget stumbles through his cases, unaware of the danger nearby and that his life is continually saved by his faithful pooch Brain. While Gadget goofs around oblivious to all that matters, his niece Penny, with the aid of her watch and computer book -- remember that this was 1983, when the Commodore 64 was state of the art -- sneaks around to solve the case on behalf of her uncle.Probably the most known and awaited running gag in the show was that of the exploding paper with Gadget's instructions, which would always managed to blow up in poor Chief Quimby's face in spite of his best efforts to keep out of harm's way.Later series would introduce a character known as Captain Capeman, who added nothing to the series, being both annoying and insofar as I can see, was only there to give Gadget a chance to save someone.
