Cures for Mental IllnessPlease don't think I believe this crap. People often do get better and become free of any mental disorder symptoms but psychiatry doesn't acknowledge that.In the world of psychiatry, what cures exist for mental illness. You are about to find out. This video references the top authorities of mental health in the United States. So, we have all these mental illnesses like depression, OCD, bipolar, ADHD, social anxiety disorder, Asperger's Syndrome, anorexia, and the list goes on.So, we prescribe all these drugs to people that are diagnosed with one or more of these mental disorders. Like antidepressants like Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Luvox, Celexa, Lexapro, Effexor or Wellbutrin.SSRI (Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) are often promoted as correcting chemical imbalances in the brain but there is no proof that depression or mental illness is caused by chemical imbalances in the brain nor is there any proof that antidepressants correct an imbalance.Medications like Ritalin, Concerta, Adderall, Dexedrine, Strattera, Focalin and Metadata for ADHD. All have undesirable side effects and can damage a person's organs.Often extreme states of mind like schizophrenia are drugged with antipsychotic medications such as Risperdal, Zyprexa, Seroquel, Geodon, Haldol, Thorazine, Stelazine and Clozaril. All of these drugs are used to control symptoms only. They are not cure for mental disorders. They all have an unknown mechanism of action. Some have side effects and adverse events that can cause permanent neurological damage, movement disorders, diabetes, weight gain, impaired cognitive functioning. This video was produced by psychetruth.http://www.youtube.com/psychetruthhttp://www.livevideo.com/psychetruthhttp://www.myspace.com/psychtruthA better quality full length version of this video can be found on livevideo.com.http://www.livevideo.com/psychetruth

Truth About Mental Illness and Diseasehttp://www.encognitive.comThe idea of mental illness as a biological entity is easy to refute. In 1988, Seymour S. Kety, M.D., Professor Emeritus of Neuroscience in Psychiatry, and Steven Matthysse, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Psychobiology, both of Harvard Medical School, said "an impartial reading of the recent literature does not provide the hoped-for clarification of the catecholamine hypotheses, nor does compelling evidence emerge for other biological differences that may characterize the brains of patients with mental disease"In 1992 a panel of experts assembled by the U.S. Congress Office of Technology Assessment concluded: "Many questions remain about the biology of mental disorders. In fact, research has yet to identify specific biological causes for any of these disorders. ... Mental disorders are classified on the basis of symptoms because there are as yet no biological markers or laboratory tests for them."Columbia University psychiatry professor Jack M. Gorman, M.D., said "We really do not know what causes any psychiatric illness."Another Columbia University psychiatry professor, Jerrold S. Maxmen, M.D., said "It is generally unrecognized that psychiatrists are the only medical specialists who treat disorders that, by definition, have no definitively known causes or cures. ... A diagnosis should indicate the cause of a mental disorder, but as discussed later, since the etiologies of most mental disorders are unknown, current diagnostic systems can't reflect them."Psychiatrist Peter Breggin, M.D., said "there is no evidence that any of the common psychological or psychiatric disorders have a genetic or biological component."http://www.encognitive.com

Pua's illnessPua had a outing on her own(Stewie let her out) and once home went to sleep and didn't get up again. 24hrs later offered her water she drank and vomited. She pooped and thought I saw worms so took that in and got worm meds. That night she turned critical. She was turning red and purple all over. Vet was closed for the weekend and no one would see her. E-vet turned her away. My dog vet gave us supplies to see us through the weekend. We were worried she wouldn't make it. We got her ants and termites and she finally ate Sunday night. Her head swelled up after the vet visit and her being on antibiotics and vit K.It was sterptococcal toxic shock syndrome. This kills dogs too. Most vets are not familiar with it yet and most animals wont survive without proper treatment but Pua was lucky.Over the long weekend of no vets to see the only thing I found to fit her symptoms was scarlet fever, anteaters are known to get strep infections. When we could finally see the vet he was convinced it was rat poison so I dropped the idea of demanding a culture. It was a mistake.Scarlet fever is caused by a hemolytic form of the strep bacteria(or maybe they all are). Anyway that means it destroys red blood cells and her white cells were up, showing she had an infection. And the "rash" of scarlet fever's not really a rash in most people it doesn't even itch. Then I found a paper on dogs getting strep and it causing bleeding(like from rat poison). I went back to believing it was 'scarlet fever' strep. Really it's the only thing that can fit everything she went through."The dog may soon experience spontaneous hemorrhaging including coughing up blood, bleeding from the nose, severe bruising of the skin, and in some cases bloody diarrhea.""It looks very similar to a poisoning -- similar to what can happen when a dog gets into rat poison. It's more of a toxicosis than many other bacterial infections,"I'm not entirely sure she was fine when she left on her trip either. I was having to bribe her with something special to get her to eat. But she could have been messing with me. Hard to say where she picked it up or when exactly but it does fit, everything, and rat poison just doesn't.She started with extreme lethargy and vomiting then got worse. Rat poison does not cause vomiting and strep does or can. Rat poison does not cause peeling skin but scarlet fever (strep) does as it's healing.I really wish I had followed my first instincts and had them do a swab and culture, it certainly wouldn't have hurt and we'd know for sure and could have helped with the proper antibiotic.I wasn't sure before but reading that dogs hemorrhage badly from strep cases that makes me pretty convinced. It's not going to act exactly the same in each species but mix the human and dog symptoms for the bacteria together and it all fits.Even the vet from the article said it was very likely the case here. And we have updated our security measures to prevent her taking any further walks on her own.

Removing The Stigma of Mental IllnessIN ORDER TO READ THE WORDS MORE CLEARLY, PLEASE WATCH IN HIGH QUALITY MODE.It is human nature to fear what we don't understand.Due to misunderstandings and inaccuracies made by the media,(everything from news reports to movies for example) our society's view has been distorted, which has created stigma about certain mental illnesses.DEFINITION OF STIGMA:a mark of disgrace or infamy; a stain or reproach, as on one's reputation.Bottom line is that we all must get more educated and stop using our fears as excuses. For more info on mental illnesses:www.cma.cawww.cmha.cawww.camh.net

The Dark Side Of Paradise: Mental Illness in BaliThis is a video that my psych lecturer gave me to put up here. Here's the description he gave me:Professor Lu Ketut Suryani is a Balinese psychiatrist and the director and founder of the Suryani Institute for Mental Health (http://www.suryani-institute.com ) in Denpasar. In addition, she is the president of the Committee Against Sexual Abuse(CASA), the chairperson of the Indonesian Cultural PsychiatricAssociation, and the former Head of the Department of Psychiatry (1997-2005) of the Udayana University and the Sanglah Hospital in Denpasar.Professor Suryani has been very active in her community, trying to help with mental health issues around paedophilia (she has been an expert witness in a number of court cases), suicide prevalence and prevention, and severe mental illnesses, like psychosis. In her latest project, she and her team ran a 10-month survey (2007-2008), in an attempt to uncover the prevalence of mental illness in Bali. According to the official governmental position, mental illness is almost non-existent in Bali. However, after interviewing almost half a million Balinese, she uncovered a far more sinister reality. She estimates that over 7000 people in Bali suffer from serious chronic mental illnesses, but are not reported (and naturally not treated). For various reasons, financial, social, political, educational, or simply shame, their families have been reluctant to seek help, while the few who did never received any. Therefore, as a last resort, these families may either abandon their mentally ill relatives in the jungle (hoping they will die or just forever disappear) or keep them under restraints, chained or inside makeshift cages. The survey-team encountered numerous cases where people were being locked up or in chains for several years (in some cases over a decade), in conditions that would have been considered inhumane even for livestock in the West! The irony in all of this is that almost every one of these cases is treatable. Professor Suryani has used her limited personal resources and has already successfully treated (obviously free of charge) 258 of these people, all of whom have recovered and are now living normal lives. However, the Indonesian government still refuses to acknowledge the existence of a problem. In an attempt to communicate the seriousness of the situation and plea for help, the survey-team recorded and photographed a large number of these cases, and made this short, 4-minute documentary, which was presented to over 1000 elders, Indonesian government officials, and local MPs on 11 May 2008. However, they still believe the message is falling on "deaf ears".My name is Dr Niko Tiliopoulos, PhD, and I am a personologist at the University of Sydney in Australia ( http://www.psych.usyd.edu.au/staff/nikot/ ). Under this capacity, I have been involved in numerous research and teaching activities in Bali and elsewhere in Indonesia. When I became aware of the above case, heard the story, saw the evidence, and witnessed the frustration of these scientists, I was deeply moved and felt obliged to try to help them expose to the rest of the world this injustice and unspeakable negligence of human rights. Therefore I submit to you, as part of my attempt, that brief documentary, in the hope that someone among you is a journalist or works for an NGO, and will be willing to take the matter further.

The Face of Mental IllnessThere is no reason to be embarrassed or ashamed.Be My Friend - http://www.myspace.com/psychtruthEx-Pharma Sales Reps Speaks Out - Pharma Not in Business of Health, Healing, Cures, Wellness.Gwen Olsen spent fifteen years as a pharmaceutical sales rep working for such healthcare giants as Johnson & Johnson, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and Abbott Laboratories. She enjoyed a successful, fast-paced career until several conscious-altering experiences began awakening her to the dangers lurking in every American medicine cabinet. Her most poignant lessons, however, came as both victim and survivor of life-threatening adverse drug reactions. After leaving pharmaceutical sales in 2000, Gwen worked in the natural foods industry first as an Account Manager for Nature's Way, and then as a Regional Sales Manager for Gaia Herbs. She is currently a writer, speaker, and natural health consultant. The United States health care system is killing Americans at an alarming rate, even though we spend over fifteen percent of the Gross National Product (GNP) on health care. According to the Journal of the American Medical Association, our health care outcomes ranked only fifteenth among twenty-five industrialized nations worldwide. Adverse effects from prescription drugs have become the third-leading killer of Americans. Only heart disease and cancer claim more lives. We trust our doctors to inform us and our government to protect us from medical malfeasance that may put profits ahead of consumer health and safety. But the fine line walked by the FDA between the interests of the pharmaceutical manufacturers and the American public has continually been crossed. The result is the unleashing of an unprecedented number of lethal drugs on the U.S. market!Gwen Olsen learned firsthand the danger that lurks in every American's medicine cabinet, working in the pharmaceutical industry. But her most poignant education would come as a victim and, ultimately, as a survivor.Visit Gwen's Website athttp://www.gwenolsen.com/Confessions of an Rx Drug PusherGod's Call to Loving Armshttp://www.amazon.com/Confessions-Rx-Drug-Pusher-Loving/dp/0595357636This video was produced by Psychetruthhttp://www.myspace.com/psychtruthhttp://www.youtube.com/psychetruth© Copyright 2008 Gwen Olsen.
