The maps and system, called Vulcan, show CO2 emissions at more than 100 times more detail than was available before. Until now, data on carbon dioxide emissions were reported, in the best cases, monthly at the level of an entire state grid. The Vulcan model examines CO2 emissions at local levels on an hourly basis. It continues through a bedroom where more appliances are throbbing with energy. Most of the energy they use comes from burning gas, oil and coal, which emit carbon dioxide - CO2 - into the atmosphere, changing the planet's climate.'The camera cuts higher and higher as we see each street and then each district of a town combine their energy streams and one stream shoots off across the countryside until we reach a power station where (animated) CO2 is belching in to the atmosphere.Voice over:'We also waste large amounts of energy unnecessarily, which only increases CO2 emissions affecting the climate even further.'The camera keeps going higher revealing eventually seeing the Earth from space. But instead of the beautiful, blue planet we are used to seeing it is enveloped in (animated) CO2 making it take on a 'reddish' hue. The Earth almost seems to pulse as all the appliances have before it.The 'reddish' Earth mixes through to the flickering red light of the charger in the opening shot.
